Whoopin’/October events cancelled

Howdy Shooters,

As announced at the August shoot, Flat Creek Crossing Ranch has a schedule conflict that precludes the Caballeros shooting on our standard third Saturday in October, and also our planned New Shooter Orientation on the fifth Saturday. We have a wonderful arrangement with the ranch that permits the operation of our shooting range in a beautiful valley at a very fair and reasonable monthly lease. Part of the agreement also recognizes that on occasion the ranch may schedule other more profitable uses of the ranch on the third Saturday.

When this happens the Tejas Caballeros have the option of rescheduling or canceling our shoot for the affected month.

In our monthly officers meeting, we unanimously agreed that canceling the October shoot would be a better action than moving the shoot to another October weekend. CAS clubs traditionally plan special events in October because it is usually an exceptionally fine month for cowboy action shooting.

Our decision to cancel the October shoot was primarily motivated by a desire to avoid presenting a conflict on weekends traditionally used by other area shooting clubs. This seemed especially important for October.

We trust the Caballeros membership will understand and support this gesture.

Sincerely,

Judge Menday Coming

Annual Bronco Birnbaum Memorial Hawaiian Shoot Scores

We had a great turnout for our Annual Bronco Birnbaum Memorial Hawaiian Shoot, with Bronco himself there to honcho the costume contest and hand out prizes for the most festively dressed cowboys and cowgirls. Of the 10 finalists, our panel of judges selected Abilene and Boosey Babe as being the most festive of the bunch, and Bronco awarded each a cowgirl bobble head in recognition of their achievement. Unfortunately, Bronco was not able to stay for the shoot but we’re hoping to have him join us with his shootin’ irons soon.

After the costume parade and awards ceremony, we proceeded to have a great day of shooting. Bosque Billy was our only clean shooter this month, so he’s earned the reserved parking space adjacent to the registration building for next month’s shoot. Well done!

Boosey Babe, Dragon Hill Dave, Schuetzum Phast, and Kyle Moon were kind enough to provide some photos of our Island-attired cowboys and girls. They are posted under the Photos link to the right. If you have photos you’d like to contribute, email them to robkoch@austin.rr.com.
